Hi, I'm Nefertiti.
I'm a Lead Service Designer specialising in the messy middle between strategy and delivery.
I help organisations understand what users need, align teams around the right problems, make trade-offs, and turn service intent into something that can actually work.
Over the last ten years, I've worked across healthcare, government, energy, telecoms, financial services, and international organisations, from discovery through to live operation. In recent years, I've focused on complex services in regulated industries, where good design has to work alongside governance, policy, risk, legacy systems, and operational reality.
I've led design teams, shaped programme direction and design approach, and supported senior stakeholders through complex decisions. I've also worked as a solo IC, getting into the detail myself: running research, mapping services, building blueprints, testing journeys, and sketching the thing that stops the meeting becoming a hostage situation.
A big part of my work is bringing people with different priorities, pressures, and levels of design maturity into the same conversation. I adapt my approach to the culture, constraints, governance, politics, delivery model, and appetite for change, so teams can make progress they can actually sustain.
My practice spans service design, user research, UX, and operating model thinking. I care about the full service: the people, processes, systems, policies, handoffs, responsibilities, and invisible work that shape the experience.
I'm pragmatic, thoughtful, and collaborative. I use AI and digital tools where they help with synthesis, prototyping, sense-making, and creating interactive ways for teams to explore complexity. For me, the value is in helping teams make better decisions, clarify ownership, and design services that can work in practice.
I'm currently open to my next role, especially where there's a real service challenge to untangle.

Leadership & Team Development
I've led mixed design teams of up to 30, made up of in-house designers and agency partners. These weren't service-design-only teams, they brought service design, user research, UX, and UI together. At Shell I held budget responsibility of over £1m. I do the work and grow the team at the same time, not one or the other.
Methods & Tools
I pick up tools quickly, usually a couple of weeks to get fluent, because most design tools work in similar ways once you have the muscle memory. The thinking matters more than the tool. The ones I reach for:
- Design: Figma, Claude, Adobe Illustrator, Canva
- Workshops and collaboration: Miro, Mural, FigJam, Lucidchart
- Research: Typeform, Qualtrics, Dovetail, Lookback, Indeemo
- Delivery: Jira, Azure DevOps
- Enterprise platforms: Salesforce, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics CRM
- Government: GDS service standards
AI in Practice
I use AI to get through large amounts of information quickly without losing accuracy. Instead of asking a model for a summary and hoping it's right, I've built frameworks that codify the source material in a structured way, so the output is traceable and I'm not spending my time checking for hallucinations. The result is faster, more reliable synthesis on big research sets, with the limits of the tools accounted for.
I've used most of the main models rather than committing to one: Claude (Opus, Fable and below), ChatGPT, Codex in VS Code, Qwen, Kimi and DeepSeek, plus Hugging Face and Ollama for running models locally. In enterprise settings I work with Microsoft Teams Copilot and Google Gemini. I also write Python with AI assistance; this site isn't Python, but most of my personal projects on GitHub are.
